The Sitter
- was a farmer from St. David's in Wales.
The Painting
- appeared in the British "Studio" journal in 1937 entitled
""Tom" A study of character." by Herbert C. Oakley.
- was exhibited, along with the painting "Gypsy", at the invitation
of a committee of artists, at an exhibition in Rugby,
England, in December 1943. It won first prize.
- in 2004, it underwent professional restoration by
International Fine Arts Conservation Studios Ltd., Bristol, UK.
